Psychological Evaluation and Assessment
Dr. Hartke provides psychological and psychological-educational evaluations to assess intellectual strengths and weaknesses, academic achievement, learning styles, emotional functioning and behavioral functioning of children, adolescents, and adults. These evaluations may be used to clarify diagnosis, identify learning disabilities or other psychological and behavioral factors that impede learning or performance, and make recommendations for educational planning and/or psychological treatment.
Psychological-educational/ Learning Disability Evaluations: Psychological-educational evaluations identify the intellectual strengths and weaknesses, learning styles, memory, academic achievement, and emotional and behavioral functioning of students from preschool through adulthood. This comprehensive testing is used to assist parents, educators, and child study teams in identifying the underlying conditions that are impacting a student’s ability to learn and perform. Recommendations may be made for educational accommodations and school placement.
ADHD Evaluations: ADHD evaluations identify ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults. Past and current symptoms will be assessed to determine if the client meets criteria for ADHD. The educational, vocational, and personal implications of the diagnosis will be discussed, as well as treatment options.
Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA): Functional behavioral assessments (FBA) identify challenging behavior in the school environment. The purpose of a functional behavior assessment is to identify problematic behaviors, triggers for the behaviors, and the purpose of those behaviors. The end of result of an FBA is the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) which outlines procedures for reinforcing desired behaviors and responding to challenging behaviors.
